Russian manufacturer KAMAZ has announced that it is developing a new armored personnel carrier, expanding its presence in the military sector.

The project was presented by the company’s director, Sergey Kogogin, during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, according to information released by the Telegram channel “Voenny Osvedomitel”.
According to the company, the armored vehicle is still in the prototype phase and is expected to be officially unveiled in 2026. After the model is revealed, the vehicle is scheduled to undergo a series of tests later that same year, while pilot production is planned for 2027.

The new armored vehicle would primarily aim to replace older models used by Russian forces. Although KAMAZ is mainly known for manufacturing trucks and vehicles from the Typhoon and Lynx families, the company is seeking to expand its presence in a segment traditionally dominated by the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant.

Initial information indicates that the vehicle could use a 6×6 or 8×8 platform, equipped with protection against mines and gunfire. The armored vehicle may also receive remotely operated weapons, such as a 12.7 mm machine gun or a 30 mm cannon, as well as a rear ramp to facilitate troop disembarkation in combat areas.
